Oklahoma Weather – Harsh Storms and Tornadoes

Harsh storms have resulted to some damages and 1 tornado has hit nonwestern Oklahoma. The National Weather Service mentions spotters informed a tornado on ground eleven miles southwest of Wakita. There are also downed power lines throughout the Oklahoma Highway 11. According to the weather service, huge hail has destroyed the windows in the establishments in Cherokee in the Alfalfa County.

As of the moment, there is still no information about any injuries.

The Oklahoma Gas and Electric has accounted over 800 power outages in Medford and Kremlin. Over 3,300 outages have been stated in Oklahoma City metro area wherein there are powerful winds though no storms have been experienced.

A tornado alert stays in effect for forty four counties in Oklahoma till 10pm. Monday. Aside from tornadoes, huge hails and destructive winds are also likely to occur starting late afternoon until midnight.

Belmont in Kingman County was reported to have the most severe damage due to a streak of storms during Monday afternoon. Fred Simon, director of this county’s emergency management mentioned that numerous homes were destroyed as well as power outages have been extensive in town around 9 miles southeast of Kingman, fortunately there are no fatalities reported.
